RIP Daft Punk 1993 -2021
Unfortunately, while I never got to see Daft Punk live (in 2007, when they last toured, I had only just heard of Daft Punk and would have been too young to get in, lol) I had the privilege of seeing Pharrell Williams perform “Get Lucky”, arguably the best-known Daft Punk song, live at the Adelaide leg of Future Music Festival 2014 (Wayville Showgrounds, 10th March 2014). While I’m not the festival-going type, it was a great experience, and looking back I’m extremely glad I went. It was, in a way, the closest thing we got to a RAM tour. Other highlights were seeing Deadmau5, my other favourite artist (he hasn’t been to Adelaide since), and seeing Eric Prydz on his first Australian tour ever.
I’ve held on to this footage for years, and had always been meaning to upload it, but I never got around to it. But, given the recent split of Daft Punk, and how impactful their music has been for me, I figured it was finally the right time to upload this. This appears to be the first and only upload of this particular performance.
Please ignore the shakiness and overall poor quality, I wasn’t really recording for YouTube. 720p was the best my phone at the time could do. Also, the blurred sections of the video are just to protect the identity of myself and those I was with.
